Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a garage floor coating?
A garage floor coating is a protective and decorative layer—usually made of epoxy, polyurea/polyaspartic, or polyurethane—applied to your concrete floor to improve durability, appearance, and resistance to spills, noncorrosive chemicals, and wear.
2. Why should I coat my garage floor?
Coating your garage floor protects it from stains, cracks, and deterioration caused by vehicles, tools, and noncorrosive chemicals. It also enhances the overall look of your garage, cleanability and increases the value of your property.
3. How long does the installation process take?
Most garage coatings take 1–2 days depending on the size of your garage, the condition of your concrete, and the type of coating system used. A hybrid coating option —epoxy base with a polyurea/polyaspartic topcoat—can be walkable after 24 hours, though you should avoid driving on it for 72 hours. For a true 24-hour turnaround, use polyurea/polyaspartic for both base and topcoats. We should discuss the pros, cons, and suitability of these options before proceeding.
4. What are the differences between epoxy and polyurea/polyaspartic coatings?
• Epoxy: Durable and affordable, great for homeowners looking for a quality, long-lasting finish.
• Polyurea/Polyaspartic: Faster curing, more flexible, and UV-resistant—ideal for both residential and commercial use.
• Hybrid: Epoxy base for deep concrete saturation and thicker for chip adhesion, topped with Polyurea/Polyaspartic for faster curing and added durability.
5. Will the coating make my floor slippery?
Not if you don’t want it to be. We can add anti-slip additives or textured finishes that provide traction even when the floor is wet.
